The Social Media Revolution in the United States
So I recently picked up a copy of Forbes “The Billionaires Issue” and it’s no surprise that the Social Media Revolution has already created five of the countries latest billionaires. This really speaks volumes on where Social is taking us and the Social Media Revolution that’s happening in the US.
After several years, much controversy, a few enemies, not to mention a whole lot of new friends, Mark Zuckerburg, Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin and Sean Parker has recently been added to the countries latest billionaires, and it’s all thanks to the largest Social Media website on the internet, yes my friends, I am talking about the famous FACEBOOK. In April of 2004 The Facebook partnership was formed, and as of January 2011 the company is now worth somewhere in the range of $50 Billion…. Yes that’s with a “B” and today Facebook is at the front of the Social Media Revolution!

Now what’s even more interesting is the evolution of this technology, in next few years we are going to see even more dramatic changes combined with Social Media hardware devices and the connected advancements in social media software technology, I am talking about a world where EVERYTHING and EVERYONE will be connected, from your Cell Phones, to Mobile Applications, Automobiles, Home Appliances, Alarm Systems, Surveillance Systems, Radio and Television, and that’s just to name a few. This will be the result of a significant shift in our lives and the Social Media Revolution, not to mention the changing of the guard in several industries. This will be a dramatic set of changes over the next few years.
Connected devices will extend way beyond social media. We are already starting to see behavioral shifts as a result of these trends, apps that share your location, credit card purchases, even apps that track your weight & body fat to alarm clocks that sync with your calendar, all quickly being accepted. Smart-Phones will soon see broadband internet speeds that will give more than 80 percent of the country an option to have 50mbps download speeds in the next few years, and the bottom line is, when this happens, it will enable a whole new wave of Social Media Revolution, and Social networks will become portable.
Facebook reported over 750 million users worldwide, that’s more than double the population of the United States and Canada combined. There is more than 155 million Facebook user accounts just in the United States alone. Twitter also has 200 million registered users. My friend the Social Media Revolution is going to be around from a while!
Today many corporations and many other business entities are using social media outlets. Clearly, the Social Media Revolution is now mainstream. They are using these sites to engage their members and customers. The Social Media Revolution is not longer a fad. It’s the biggest shift since the Industrial Revolution!
